Now you can make Applebees' Oriental Chicken Salad at home! It is quick to make thanks to chicken tenders and tasty to boot!

I have been on a real 'restaurant recipe' kick of late. If they make it on to a major restaurant menu that already suggests it is a good recipe... and if it stays there -it is great!

Chicken tenders add protein and toasted almonds and cabbage add crunch. The dressing is a honey sesame flavour. It all adds up to tasty lunch salad.
Ingredients
- Any brand of breaded chicken tenders will work here.
- Chow mein noodles are a crunchy addition. I often leave them out because I find the nutrition label scary. I usually increase the almonds instead.
See the variations in the Recipe card for other changes I made to the original. (Recipe is written as the original).
Wine Pairing for Applebee's Oriental Chicken Salad
This dressing here is noticeably sweet so an off dry Riesling or Gewurztraminer would fit the bill. An off dry Rosé would also.
FAQs
Seasoned rice wine has some sugar and salt added. It is often used on sushi rice to add a bit of flavour. The recipe calls for plain Rice Vinegar but if you only have seasoned, don't let that stop you from making this.
If you haven't tossed the greens with dressing the greens will keep in the fridge for a day or so. Leftover chicken tenders tend to be a bit tough so if possible make the chicken tenders just before serving. The dressing will keep sealed tightly in the fridge for up to a week.
Toasted sesame oil is made from sesame seeds that have been roasted and toasted. It has a nuttier flavour than plain sesame oil. In a pinch you can use plain sesame oil here but your dressing may not be as flavourful.
