Ingredients

Stew

  • 2 lbs beef stewing meat
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 6 medium potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 2 yellow onions rough chopped
  • 3 carrots peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 turnips peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup frozen peas

Sauce

  • 1 200 ml can diced tomatoes (7 oz)
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 284 ml jar Patak's Vindaloo curry paste use ½ the jar if you want less heat
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet and brown the beef over high heat. Do not crowd the beef. Brown in batches if necessary.
  • Add all the stew ingredients to the slow cooker except the peas.
  • Mix all the sauce ingredients and pour over the stew.
  • Cook on low heat 7-8 hours. Add the peas 1 hour before serving.
  • Serve over rice if desired to reduce the spiciness.
